In coco, the usual approach is a low EC in early veg stepped up through flower, with the ceiling set by what the plant is actually taking rather than by a chart, and both parents are calcium-hungry enough that a cal-mag supplement at the product's stated rate is normal practice for this cross. Ease nitrogen back after week three; the leaf clawing that signals nitrogen excess shows up faster here than on a pure indica. A phosphorus and potassium supplement through mid to late flower is common, again at the label rate rather than a number picked off a forum.

Temperature in late flower. Cooler nights in the final couple of weeks are widely associated with denser resin coverage and with the purple expression some Runtz phenotypes show in leaves and calyxes. Growers who want that generally run a day-to-night differential of around 10°C in the last fortnight before the cut, which on a 56 to 63 day plant means roughly weeks seven and eight. Be aware that this pulls in the opposite direction from bud rot prevention, since a bigger overnight temperature drop pushes overnight relative humidity up. If you cannot hold humidity down through the dark period, skip the differential; colour is not worth a rotted cola.

Training. Topping at node four or five with low-stress training gives the best canopy. Expect 30-50% stretch on the flip. A screen works well but is not required for a single plant. Hold late-flower humidity at 45-50%, keep the dehumidifier running through lights-off, keep air moving through the interior of the plant rather than over the top, and open a suspect bud by hand rather than judging it by eye. If you find rot, that bud and its neighbours come off and go in the bin; do not smoke, vaporize or extract material affected by mold, and do not assume that trimming the visible part away leaves the rest clean. Harvest. 56 to 63 days. The decision is how late to push. At 56 days the candy-fruit nose is present but not finished. Nearer 63 days, with trichomes at roughly 60-70% cloudy and 20-30% amber, the cream side of the profile fills in. Late harvest on Runtz does not tip it into couch-lock the way it does on a pure indica; the balanced genetics mean you gain complexity without dramatically changing the character.
