When humidifiers are needed: dry winter conditions when home heating drops humidity below 30% RH; arid climates (American Southwest, Australian Outback, Mediterranean summer) with naturally dry air; sealed CO2 rooms where dehumidifier overshooting drops RH below targets; clone/seedling propagation chambers requiring 80%+ RH; veg rooms in air-conditioned indoor spaces where AC dehumidification creates dry conditions. Standard humidifier sizes: small ultrasonic units (1-2 gallon capacity, 2-4 gallons per day output) — adequate for 2×2 to 4×4 ft tents; medium units (3-5 gallon, 4-6 gallons per day) — for 5×5 to 6×6 ft rooms; commercial humidifiers (10+ gallon, 8+ gallons per day) — for larger operations and propagation rooms. Installation: position away from electronic equipment to avoid moisture damage; use ultrasonic models that produce cool mist (not steam humidifiers which add unwanted heat to grow rooms); ensure water source is regularly refilled or use auto-fill systems for hands-off operation.
