How to make marijuana edibles
1. Decarboxylation (Activate THC):
- Why: Raw cannabis contains THCA, which is non-psychoactive. Heating converts it to THC.
- How:
- Preheat oven to 240°F (115°C).
- Break cannabis into small pieces (do not grind).
- Spread on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Let cool.
2. Infuse into Fat (Butter or Oil):
- Fat Options: Unsalted butter, coconut oil, or olive oil.
- Method (Stovetop):
- Add 1 cup of butter/oil and 1 cup water to saucepan.
- Add 7–10 grams of decarboxylated cannabis.
- Simmer on low heat (160–200°F or 70–93°C) for 2–3 hours. Do not boil. Stir occasionally.
- Strain through cheesecloth to remove plant material.
- Refrigerate. Discard any water layer (if butter was used).
3. Use in Edibles:
- Use cannabutter or canna-oil in place of regular fat in any recipe (cookies, brownies, etc.).
- Do not cook above 350°F (175°C) to preserve potency.
4. Dosage Guide:
- Start low: 5–10 mg THC per serving.
- Estimate potency based on cannabis THC % and amount used.
- Do not take any more for at least two hours.
Example Calculation:
- 1 gram cannabis @ 20% THC ≈ 200 mg THC.
- If used in 10 servings → ~20 mg THC per serving.
5. Storage and Safety:
- Store in airtight containers, labeled clearly.
- Keep away from children and pets.
Important Tips:
- Edibles take 30–120 minutes to take effect.
- Effects last 4–8 hours.
- Always consume responsibly.
