How to make marijuana butter

Ingredients
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
- 7–10 grams decarboxylated cannabis (adjust potency as needed)
- 1 cup water (optional, helps prevent scorching)
Step 1: Decarboxylation (Activate THC/CBD)
- Preheat oven to 240°F (115°C).
- Break up cannabis into small pieces (not powdered).
- Spread on a parchment-lined baking tray.
- Bake for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Let cool before use.
Step 2: Infuse Butter

- In a double boiler or saucepan, mix:
- Simmer on low heat (160–200°F / 70–93°C) for 2–3 hours.
- Stir occasionally.
- Do not boil.
- Keep temperature below 200°F to preserve cannabinoids.
Step 3: Strain and Store

- Line a strainer with cheesecloth over a jar or container.
- Pour mixture through to remove plant material.
- Cool and refrigerate until solid.
- If water was used, remove water layer after solidification.
Storage
- Refrigerate up to 3 weeks.
- Freeze for 3–6 months.
Usage Tip
Start with ¼–½ teaspoon in recipes. Wait 1–2 hours to assess effects when consuming.
